Bisodol ®
Wind Relief Tablets
This leaflet
tells you about Bisodol Wind Relief
tablets. Please read it carefully before using this
medicine. If you have any questions or are not sure
about anything, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
What's
in this medicine?
Each
chewable Bisodol Wind Relief
tablet contains the active ingredients Sodium
Bicarbonate 63 mg, Calcium Carbonate 522 mg, Light
Magnesium Carbonate 68 mg and Simethicone 100 mg. In
addition, Bisodol Wind Relief
tablets contain saccharin sodium, dextrose, maize
starch, dextrates, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium
stearate, spearmint flavouring and colours: E104 (Quinoline
Yellow) and E131 (Patent Blue V).
Bisodol Wind Relief tablets
are available in packs of 20.
Bisodol Wind Relief tablets
contain four active ingredients: sodium bicarbonate,
calcium carbonate and light magnesium carbonate
belonging to the group of medicines called antacids
(which work by neutralising excess acid in the stomach)
and simethicone, an antifoaming agent that gently
disperses air bubbles in the stomach so that painful
trapped wind can be discreetly passed.
What
does the medicine do?
Bisodol Wind Relief tablets
provide relief from the symptoms of acid indigestion,
trapped wind and heartburn by neutralising
excess acid in the
stomach and eliminating intestinal gas.
Before
you take this medicine
Do not take
Bisodol Wind Relief tablets
if:
- you
are allergic to any of the ingredients listed above.
- you
have been told the level of phosphate in your blood
is low (hypophosphataemia).
- you
have heart or kidney problems.
As with all
medicines, if you are pregnant, talk to your doctor or
pharmacist before using this medicine.
Speak to
your doctor or pharmacist before taking
Bisodol Wind Relief tablets if
you are taking tetracycline antibiotics or iron tablets.
How to
take your medicine
Adults, the elderly and children
over 12 years: Suck or chew one or two tablets as
required. Do not take more than 16 tablets in any 24
hour period.
Children under 12 years:
Not recommended.
If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
Overdose
If you
take too many Bisodol Wind Relief
tablets you may experience constipation or
diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if these symptoms do
not go away.
Side
effects
Bisodol Wind Relief tablets
may not suit everybody. Some patients may have side
effects such as belching, constipation or diarrhoea. If
you take Bisodol Wind Relief
tablets over a long period of time you may suffer from
rebound hyperacidity (regurgitation of stomach acid into
the food pipe). If you experience these symptoms, or
have any other unusual effects that last for more than a
few days, you should tell your doctor.
Storing
your medicine
Do not store
Bisodol Wind Relief tablets
above 25°C.
Do not use
after the expiry date on the pack.
